Compression difference between cylinders can only be 14 psi, and minimum 128... So I understand a rebuilt motor should be much better off, but just an FYI, you're actually not that bad off ;-). Anyways, pulling a motor isn't that bad, it's the installation that sucks. $3500 to put a motor in? You got raaaaaaaaaped. For an entire TT swap I got a few quotes of $4,000 around here, and I thought THAT was pretty steep. That includes a hell of a lot more than pulling and replacing a motor... Good luck either way.
